Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Emotional Support Program Coordinator of Special Education (on assignment for Emotional Support) in Reading, Pennsylvania

Under the direction of the Special Education Programs Supervisor and Consultant the Emotional Support Program Coordinator of Special Education will maintain special education programs and services in accordance with Devereux and district policies and standards as well as state and federal laws; provides coaching to emotional support teaching staff to ensure IEP compliance and implementation of emotional support program manual and services; attend IEP meetings; support with ongoing professional development and coaching to Devereux emotional support staff; participate in Devereux program leadership meetings and maintain clear communication with Devereux supervisors

REPORTS TO: Special Education Programs Supervisor and Consultant followed by Director of the Devereux Center for Effective Schools

Responsibilities

General Program Supervision

  • Oversee all aspects of individualized educational programs and services for students within the emotional support needs, including developing and implementing educational curricula designed to ensure the maximum educational benefit.

  • Observe and monitor lesson plan development and implementation to ensure the provision of high-quality content aligned with instructional goals and education standards.

  • Ensure that program staff comply with all regulatory, organizational, and center standards of education and standards of care.

  • Ensure the safe and effective delivery and documentation of instruction and/or intervention services for all students in the program.

Employee Supervision

  • Mentor and Supervise ES Teachers

  • Conduct weekly supervision meetings with each CES ES RSD Program Teachers using CES approved supervision form.

  • Collect weekly lesson plans from each teacher. Lesson plans need to uploaded weekly to the RSD Google Drive.

  • Present professional development trainings, as needed, to the special education staff.

  • Ensure the effectiveness and relevance of teacher-developed IEPs and PBSPs.

  • Send emails notifying lead staff (per building) of completed IEP’s for final approval.

  • Complete all necessary documentation effectively and in a timely manner.

IEP/RR/Progress Monitoring

  • Facilitate grade-band and IEP meetings with instructional staff and processes for the purpose of developing, implementing, and maintaining appropriate special education services.

  • Monitor assigned programs and projects for the purpose of complying with district and state curricular and instructional objectives.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in annual trainings

  • Maintain current certifications as per PA Department of Education.

  • Participate in weekly supervision meeting with Special Education Program Supervisor.

  • Participate in weekly RSD ES Program meetings

  • Participate in weekly Coaching Team Meetings

  • Maintain and share calendar with ES Program Leadership

  • Weekly Calendar must match ES Program Scheduling Data Base

The Center for Effective Schools (CES) is a non-profit research and training center dedicated to building the capacity of schools and other child-serving institutions to better serve children and adolescents with, and at risk for developing, emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD). This mission is accomplished through training, consultation and applied research. The CES is a division of Devereux’s Institute of Clinical and Professional Training and Research. Established in 1999, the CES is located in King of Prussia, PA, just outside of Philadelphia. From its inception, the primary focus of the organization was and continues to be addressing the needs of children with and at risk for EBD and their families by promoting effective practices, informed by scientific evidence, to improve lives. The CES utilizes an “indirect” service delivery approach whether working at the individual or systems level. The theoretical foundation of this work is based in applied behavior analysis and positive behavior support and, to the extent possible, delivered within a preventative or early intervening framework.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or Educational Leadership.

  • PA Supervisor of Special Education certification or Principal Certification preferred.

  • Minimum three (3) years relevant teaching experience. Experience should include increasing levels of responsibility related to special education, curriculum and instruction, and designing services for students with emotional support needs.
