Being a Direct Support Professional has its Advantages!
As a Direct Support Professional at Devereux, you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. You will assist in the planning and implementation of group home services for assigned clients. Responsible for the safety and security of all clients in assigned group homes. You will also provide therapeutic interventions as necessary.
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health – Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Woonsocket House Group Home (Woonsocket) and Laurel Hill Group Home(Pascoag) serve students with complex mental health and behavioral challenges. With a ratio of 1 staff to 3 students, these homes are for young people who are ready for greater independence as they prepare to move home or to another community setting.
Responsibilities may include managing personal hygiene, chores & room care, meals, medication administration, recreation activities, facilitating peer interactions & socialization, working on their treatment goals, and providing transportation for clients, families, or others as assigned.

Maintaining a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program clients while improving functioning and minimizing interfering behaviors.
Providing client documentation to include shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress notes.
Facilitating proper medical care including medication administration for clients.
Assisting clients in daily living activities including health & personal management, achieving personal goals, recreation, and daily household living. High School diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or Special Education preferred.
Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders.
Active driver’s license is required.

Additionally, you must be able to complete required new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.**
Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.**
Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.**
