Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Florida’s Therapeutic Foster Care Program recruits, supports, and trains foster families in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties. This position includes some evening and weekend hours as needed. Based in Orlando, the Therapeutic Foster Parent Recruiter is responsible for:

  • Continually recruits foster parentsto increase the number of foster homes in our program available for the placement of foster children.

  • Successfully retains licensed foster homes by providing on-going training and support to foster parents.

  • Coordinates advertising, conducts cold calls, and provides information meetings to recruit new foster parents.

  • Reviews applications, screenings, and references for potential foster parents; identifies and meets with community stakeholders and often serves as the first face of Devereux for interested foster families.

  • Guides interested families through the licensing process and ensures foster homes adhere to all licensing and program standards.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Criminology, Juvenile Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Special Education, Education, Human Development, Child Development, Family Development, and/or Marriage and Family Therapy, required

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field preferred

  • Certified Child Welfare Case Manager (CWCM ) or Certified Child Welfare Licensing Counselor (CWLC) required


  • Good organizational skills, communication skills, ability to work flexible hours, assessment skills, marketing skills, and bilingual-Spanish or Creole a plus.

  • 2+ years of experience working in child welfare and the foster care system. (strongly preferred)

  • Must have experience in training and presentation, demonstrate proficiency in verbal and written skills, andexcellent interpersonal skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, Outlook.


  • Must be able to complete a three-day new hire orientation class; hours are approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm each day. Orientation classes are offered in Orlando, FL and Titusville, FL.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Florida Driver's License

  • Successfully pass pre-employment medical screenings which include: Drug Screen, TB Test and Influenza Vaccine

  • Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
