Devereux staff will work at the Mount View Youth Services Center (MVYSC) is a secure, co-ed multi-purpose facility operated by the CDHS Division of Youth Services (DYS). The strategic goal of DYS is to operate healthy trauma-responsive organizational environments as demonstrated through prosocial, safe, and non-violent interactions. Devereux staff will be integrated into the environment and work collaboratively to build and maintainn safe and truama responsive environments.

The Assistant Principal functions as an Instructional Lead and works collaboratively with MVYSC Educational Director to ensure integrated services aligned with the departments strategic vision. Provides supervision and oversight to post-secondary contract teachers. Assists in the development and implementation of programming specific to career and technical education, post-work-force readiness, life skills and employability services education. Partners with and works collaboratively with DYS Education and MVYSC Principal for instructional vision implementation and monitoring. Supervision of contracted educational services staff (teachers and administrative support) in the coordination and delivery of services. Will provide oversight of the daily educational functions in conjunction with other members of the management team as indicated by the Principal. Will assist in creating and monitoring data related to educational program outcomes, trends, and compliance with documentation guidelines. Monthly data reports will be completed and submitted to the Principal. Will assist with the implementation and training of professional development curriculum and program development as indicated by the Principal and or leadership team.

Maintain thorough knowledge of DYS clinical services standards, and assist in monitoring educational team with compliance. Responsible for staff compliance with contract expectations as well as Devereux and DYS policies and procedures, prudent fiscal management of contract related budget, implements initiatives aligned with strategic goals of the integrated model, personnel management including hiring, evaluations, time cards, performance management, issue resolution, training, coaching and professional development for Education contract staff. Demonstrates teamwork, effective communication, inclusion and presence in order to deliver a comprehensive treatment environment. Is a member of the leadership team, attends meetings as required by Devereux and MVYSC and serves on committees as needed. Other duties as assigned.

-Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work or psychology, or related field.

-Colorado Department of Education license (CDE licensed Teacher, Special Education Director or Principal acceptable).

-Previous experience with supervising educational staff (Required).

-Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching and trauma informed classroom practices (Required).

-Familiarity with CTE Pathways and PWR courses, and experience with vocational programming and work force readiness highly desirable.

-Experience with adolescents in vocational, residential or secure setting preferred.
