  • Utilize your experience and expertise to provide day-to-day HR leadership, management and strategic oversight of all HR department functions and activities for over 700 employees.

  • As a key member of the senior leadership team, lead efforts to build a workforce that is tailored to the future needs of the center, which includes building partnerships with educational and community organizations to improve our position as employer of choice.

  • Conduct a comprehensive, center-wide skills and competencies assessment, and build a recruiting and development plan around gaps identified in that assessment.

  • Revise and implement our staff engagement plan to improve retention and the well-being of our workforce.

NOTE:

The primary location for this role may be based out of West Deptford, Somerset, or Morganville, with the ablility to travel to West Deptford once or twice a week for meetings/supervision, etc.**

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New Jersey touches the lives of nearly 400 children, adolescents, adults, and their families with special needs, from outside the New York skyline to the Southern New Jersey shoreline. Individuals with emotional, behavioral, and developmental disabilities are served via a broad spectrum of treatment settings including; community-based homes and apartments, vocational training programs, family care homes, and consulting services.

This position will be responsible for directing and administering human resources functions for all center employees to include; compensation, employee relations, policy implementation, compose and implement center procedures, staff training and development, performance management, retention initiatives and statistical reporting. This critical role will supervise an HR department of 8 staff, and reports to the Executive Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, or Business Administration. Master’s degree and/or PHR/SPHR Certification preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of Human Resources generalist experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare, human services, non-profit, or educational setting.

  • Previous supervisory experience required.

  • Must have a demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulatory requirements, in areas including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, and OSHA.

  • Requires proficiency in the use of a sophisticated HR/Payroll Information System.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, customer service skills, and an ability to independently follow up as required. Requires an ability to be flexible and an ability to adjust priorities as needed.

  • Requires frequent statewide travel, must have reliable transportation.
