You will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. Provide supervision and support to on-site Special Education Teachers working in our IDD/Autism/MH program.

Every day as a Head Teacher you will:

  • Ensure the safety of all students

  • Provide Guidance, Support, and act as a mentor to other teachers

  • Deliver education lessons in a small classroom setting

  • Develop and implement IEP's for students and track education goals

  • Support and reinforce PBIS goals and objectives

Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), residential treatment (RTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: B.S. degree in Special Education, have an Instructional I or II Certification and Educational Supervisory Certificate (or demonstrated progress toward the attainment of said certificate) required.

EXPERIENCE: Three years teaching experience required.
