Devereux’s Southeastern PA Dental Facility is conveniently located in West Chester, PA and provides comprehensive dental treatment to the residential population at Devereux. We are seeking a full-time Dental Hygienist with Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner (PHDHP) Certification or someone who is eligible for a PHDHP certificate. In this important role you will perform dental procedures to include prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, sealants, fluoride application and provide oral hygiene instructions and assist the Dentist in treatment procedures. The Dental Department provides dental treatment for individuals with emotional, behavioral, and intellectual disabilities ranging in age from school age through geriatrics.

  • Requires a minimum of 3600 hours (2 years) dental hygiene experience under the direct supervision of a dentist; experience with emotional, behavioral or developmental disabilities preferred;

  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain Public Health Dental Hygiene Certification (PHDHP);

  • Ability to effectively communicate with other dental professionals, nursing staff and interact with individuals with a broad range of behavioral and cognitive disabilities and provide oral hygiene instructions;

  • Minimum of two years’ dental experience, performing dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planning procedures, sealants, fluoride application;

  • Must have completed an accredited dental program as a dental hygienist;

  • Experience working with individuals in a mental health / behavioral health environment helpful.
