Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Part-Time Registered Nurse - RN (20hrs) in Washington, Connecticut

For over 50 years -- The Glenholme School, part of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, has provided a comprehensive residential program and services for children with learning differences and special needs. Located in picturesque Washington, CT the RN position will be part of a cohesive, passionate and dynamic team. The selected candidate will foster Devereux’s mission and values of quality care as well as providing top-notch and individualized therapeutic care for our students.

We are seeking an RN who has experience with the student population and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with learning differences and mental health/behavioral challenges. If this describes you, then look no further!

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Examine students with medical and/or physical complaints. Administer first aid and medical treatments, as needed. Refer students with illness/injury to physician for further treatment.

  • Assist with physical examinations, as needed.

  • Implement physician’s prescriptions for medication and treatments.

  • Prepare medication envelopes and pour on weekly schedule. Administer medication to students.

  • Communicate medication changes, treatments, and do observations to appropriate staff.

  • Communicate medical information on all students to outside medical professionals, parents and agencies, as required.

  • Oversee coordination of student’s medical appointments with outside medical professionals.

  • Coordinate scheduling of student appointments with consulting physicians (Pediatrician and Psychiatrist).

  • Maintain medical records of students including medical history, drug reactions, allergies, prescribed medications, immunizations.

  • Develop Medical Treatment Plan for each student, and attend PPT’s as requested.

  • On-call rotations as needed and scheduled.

  • Other duties as needed.

  • Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with adolescents in a behavioral health, Human Services, Residential Treatment, or Community Mental Health environment

  • Valid Connecticut Drivers’ License and satisfactory three-year driving history record
