Responsible for monitoring the clients’ behaviors and activities at all times and relating appropriate information to other members of the Treatment Team.Functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and assists in providing care and treatment that is appropriate to the ages and populations served, specifically children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Functions as a positive role model and mentor.
Devereux's Victoria Treatment Program sits on 400 wooded acres dotted with vibrant wildflowers and native Texas wildlife, approximately 15 miles between Victoria and Goliad. Within this calm and tranquil setting, a therapeutic environment exists for children and adults with severe psychological, behavioral and/or developmental problems. A Direct Care Professional at Devereux is an important and impactful role that provides our clients (children, adolescents, and adults) with the guidance and support they need to lead empowering and fulfilling lives.

High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred in relevant field. One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, and adults required.
The IDEAL candidate will be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to complete required new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.
Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques. The employee is required to routinely perform light lifting and/or moving from 1 to 20 lbs., frequently perform moderate lifting and/or moving from 21 to 60 lbs., and occasional lifting and/or moving of greater than 61 lbs.Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, an employee regularly works with clients with unpredictable behavior; works inside in areas that are adequately ventilated and lighted, frequently works outside while supervising clients in outdoor activities and may have exposure to changing temperature, humidity and weather conditions; may have occasional travel, as needed, off-site and escorting clients to appointments.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except during certain milieu activities when noise levels may be loud.
