Devereux's Victoria Treatment Program sits on 400 wooded acres dotted with vibrant wildflowers and native Texas wildlife, approximately 15 miles between Victoria and Goliad. Within this calm and tranquil setting, a therapeutic environment exists for children and adults with severe psychological, behavioral and/or developmental problems. A Direct Care Professional at Devereux is an important and impactful role that provides our clients (children, adolescents, and adults) with the guidance and support they need to lead empowering and fulfilling lives.
As a Direct Support Professional, you will :
Assist clients in daily living activities, including health & hygiene management, cooking, cleaning, and recreation.
Provide client documentation to include shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress notes.
Facilitate proper medical care, including medication administration for clients.
Facilitate groups (ex. self-esteem, anger management), peer interactions & socialization.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program clients, while improving functioning and minimizing interfering behaviors.
Devereux has been providing services nationwide for more than 90 years and the Texas program has served children and adults since the early 1960s. The campus is located near excellent medical services and offers recreational and shopping opportunities.
The goal of the residential program is to assist and support clients as they become contributing members of their community. Our team members work with the client to develop a support plan that helps the client achieve maximum independence. The plan is designed based on the needs of the client, and incorporates supports that can address challenging behaviors. The Adult Program is based on the philosophy that all individuals benefit from a challenging
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred in relevant field.
One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, and adults required.

While performing the duties of this position, an employee regularly works with clients with unpredictable behavior; works inside in areas that are adequately ventilated and lighted, frequently works outside while supervising clients in outdoor activities and may have exposure to changing temperature, humidity and weather conditions; may have occasional travel, as needed, off-site and escorting clients to appointments. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except during certain milieu activities when noise levels may be loud.
