Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Lead Cook in Tucson, Arizona


Position Details:

Pay Range: $17.00-18.95/hr. (based on experience/education)

Hiring Bonus: $1,000

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6:30am - 6:30pm and Thursday 7:30am - 1:00pm

Located in Tucson AZ, Devereux’s Brief Intervention Program (BIP) has the capacity to serve 24 children in a behavioral health residential setting which includes 24-hour supervision and therapeutic services. The BIP is a safe and supportive environment that serves youth, ages 9 to 17, who are experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.

As a Lead Cook, you will prepare and cook all food items, and maintain the food service area in a clean, orderly, and sanitary manner for our AIC/BIP facility. The Lead Cook follows federal and state guidelines in the planning, preparing, and serving of meals to clients and staff.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • Valid Food Handlers card required and strong knowledge of food safety

  • Minimum three (3) years experience in food services required; preferred experience in large quantity or institutional cooking

  • Record keeping and documentation experience required

  • Must be customer oriented


  • Must possess valid driver's license & pass 39-month DMV history check

  • Current AZ fingerprint clearance card with NO restrictions - or ability to obtain one

  • Ability to attend paid full time New Hire Orientation Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm

  • Must be able to complete and provide proof of current influenza vaccination

  • Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children
