Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Direct Support FT in Sterling in Sterling, Massachusetts

Description

Base Pay starting at $16.80/hour, additional compensation offered for higher education/relative experience in the field

In our community group home in Sterling individuals learn the skills needed for independent living and are encouraged to make meaningful life choices. Our goal is to support individuals to access the services they need, build community connections and to achieve the best quality of life possible.

As a Direct Support Professional, you are a teacher - coaching and demonstrating skills to increase individual’s independence, relationship builder - developing positive connections with individuals, their friends and families and their DDS service coordinators and an environmental manager - monitoring the safety and security of the home and community.

Responsibilities may include coaching and assisting in hygiene routines, chore completion, meal preparation, administration of medications, completion of required paperwork, planning and facilitating recreational activities, assisting with transportation and supporting individuals in working and achieving their goals.

You will add value by :

Maintaining a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program clients while improving functioning and minimizing interfering behaviors.

Providing client documentation to include shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress notes.

Facilitating proper medical care including medication administration for clients.

Assisting clients in daily living activities including health & personal management, achieving personal goals, recreation, and daily household living.

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Must have a valid drivers License

  • High school diploma/GED required

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or High-school diploma with relevant human services experience required. Academic studies in the areas of psychology, sociology, social work, and education are highly desirable.

  • Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders.

  • Drivers license required.

  • Diana Screening

  • Must be able to attend a 2 week paid orientation, which runs Monday-Friday, 8AM to 4PM.

  • Schedule post orientation: Tuesday 11-9am, Thurday & Friday 3-11pm, Saturday 9-11pm
