In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, Devereux provides short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian. Devereux provides extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with intense supports for their social and emotional health. We also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child.

Devereux’s ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor and, during the short time they are with us, have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey. This is a very high benchmark to set, but Devereux has partnered with leading immigration rights advocates and legal defense nonprofits to ensure children in our care have access to the finest legal supports offered by our country.

The PSA Compliance Manager (PSA) is responsible for managing implementation and compliance with the Interim Final Rule to prevent, detect, and respond to sexual abuse and sexual harassment involving child refugees. The PSA will monitor care providers to ensure services are provided in a structured, safe and productive environment that meets respective state guidelines, relevant federal law, the Cooperative Agreement, program policy guide. The PSA works with the Devereux VP of Audit and Compliance to ensure adherence to program standards and expectations. The PSA will: provide data to the Short-term Shelter program to help identify issues and develop solutions; actively promote a culture of patient safety, proactive risk management, clinical excellence, and on-going regulatory readiness; and lead quality improvement activities. He/she will be responsible for implementing systems for evaluation and monitoring of all regulatory standards that apply to the Short-term Shelter program and will ensure that all members of the team are actively functioning in accordance with the standards and Devereux’s program design.

The IDEAL candidate will…

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or social service fields or business administration or management

  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with child welfare standards, best practices, quality assurance and compliance

  • Experience with Joint Commission (preferred)

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (preferred)
