In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, Devereux will be provides short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without their legal guardian. Devereux will provide extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for refugee children, with intense supports for their social and emotional health. We will also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child.

Devereux’s ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor and, during the short time they are with us, have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey. This is a very high benchmark to set, but we have already begun partnering with leading legal defense nonprofits to ensure children in our care have access to the finest immigration advocates and supports our country offers.

The Bilingual Lead Case Manager coordinates all aspects of case management, safe and timely release services, and the delivery of therapeutic services, verification and continuation, and aftercare/discharge planning. He/she will participate in the development of, and coordinate the implementation of, assigned refugee children’s individual treatment plan to ensure that assigned children are receiving clinically appropriate, outcome-based, and cost effective treatment services. The Lead Case Manager will serve as liaison between assigned children, sponsors, Short-term Shelter program and the Multi-disciplinary Treatment Team. This leader will participate in, and coordinate the treatment plan reviews, educational plan meetings, and alternative staffing as needed. He/she will be responsible for training new case managers and supervising the work of the other case managers and will complete and monitors timely documentation completion. The Lead Case Manager will be the communication hub for all forms of communication pertaining to the child refugee and all other aspects of his/her care.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services, or social services field OR a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of progressive employment experience that demonstrates supervisory and case management experience.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

  • Be compassionate, empathetic, and maintain sound boundaries.

  • Ability to create and maintain a therapeutic treatment environment.

  • Valid driver’s license and minimum 21 years of age.

  • Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.

All ORR programs require unvaccinated staff without a medical or religious exemption to be fully vaccinated no later than 7/1/22. If you are already fully vaccinated, you will need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or have an approved medical or religious exemption prior to starting.
