Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Arizona provides programs and services for children/adolescents. Located in Phoenix, AZ this position provides 1:1 mentorship and support through a strengths-based approach to youth who are survivors of sexual exploitation. Youth are provided with direct support to those who have been impacted by interpersonal violence including but not limited to sexual assault, sex crimes, human trafficking, sexual abuse, physical abuse, stalking and much more.

The Survivor Advocate plays an integral role in the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Program, which strives to raise awareness, improve resiliency factors and support youth in coping with the trauma they have endured. Survivor Advocates provide direct support to the youth as an active member of the Child and Family Team and encourage youth to move toward self-advocacy and self-determination in the attainment of their own goals by accompanying them to court hearings, forensic interviews, hospital staffings and any other opportunities to empower youth to make their voices heard.

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Must have experiential knowledge related to commercial sexual exploitation.

  • Must be able to encourage collaboration and advocate on behalf of the client.

  • Demonstrate the ability to present to small groups.

  • Must be able to maintain a non-judgmental attitude while responding with empathy and clarity to the youth they are working with.

  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills by being able to gather and share information regarding community interventions to decrease the commercial sexual exploitation of youth.


  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must have a valid driver's license, proof of care insurance and dependable transportation

  • Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment (if applicable)

  • Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results

  • Current unrestricted AZ Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Must be able to complete and provide proof of current influenza vaccination

  • Able to attend full time paid New Hire Orientation Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm plus additional 2-3 weeks of on the job training

  • Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children
