Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health PT Unlicensed Outpatient Therapist in Malvern, Pennsylvania


Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), residential treatment (RTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community

As an Outpatient Clinician at Devereux Community Services you will be involved in conducting individual and family therapy in an office location with flexibility in scheduling your appointments. This position allows clinicians the opportunity to work with individuals ranging in age from 2 to 21 years old, depending on enrollment through a school district, with a wide range of clinical diagnoses.

Individual therapy identifies a child’s specific behavioral challenges and develops the use of skills that will enhance the individual’s strengths through various forms of therapy. Family therapy focuses on improving and enhancing family communication and positive support through parent education and family systems therapy. Outpatient Clinicians will work with their supervisor and team to ensure they are providing high quality and effective services to their caseload to improve individual and family well-being and decrease the need for more intensive services.

Specific responsibilities of an Outpatient Therapist include:

  1. Provides hours of individual. Family and collateral therapy per week, including intakes as needed. Must work a minimum of 10

hours per week.

  1. Will create initial resiliency plan within 3 sessions. Coordinates successive resiliency plan development and compliance to reflect appropriate interventions/goals for each individual assigned.

  2. Ensure proper documentation of program participation, recordkeeping for charts and/or referrals including medication, case management, resiliency plans and progress notes.

  3. Will review all Psychiatric evaluations, to endure that all recommendations are being followed and individuals remain compliant with resiliency.

  4. Will comply with all regulatory. Organizational and center standards of care. Ensures that safe effective delivery and documentation of resiliency services for all individuals in outpatient programs.

  5. Assists in the hospitalization process as required. Provides assistance to caseload in crisis situations.

  6. Maintains compliance with all training/learning required and takes initiative in seeking opportunities for professional growth.


EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience conducting individual and/or family therapy, preferably with children and adolescents, required. Requires strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and computer skills. Must be adaptable to changing workload, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and available to work a flexible work schedule. Must have the ability to travel to and from work site, and be at least 21 years of age. Proficient computer skills and a working knowlegdge of software programs (i.e. MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
