This position will have oversight of Infection Control for Devereux's Children's Behavioral Health Services under the direction of the Director of Nursing. Local travel between campuses in Chester County is required. (Malvern and Glenmoore areas). Devereux Children's Behavioral Health Services, provides programs and services for children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences. 1 Shift a week doing Direct RN care, 4 days a week doing Infection Prevention.

The position is responsible for the following:


  • Monitor immunizations on all clients, upon admission and check monthly for needed vaccines

  • Order and maintain inventory of vaccines.

  • Coordinate Devereux’s participation in the PA Vaccine for Children Program for our clients.

  • Flu vaccine, PPD testing, etc.

Infection Monitoring

  • Collect/report data on infections & track antibiotic use

  • Coordinate a response to any breakout of infections and ensure education of staff regarding response procedures.

  • Report communicable diseases to appropriate agencies.

Policies and Procedures

  • Assist with updating and reviewing procedures

  • Serve as expert in Devereux Policies and the ‘go-to’ person for fielding questions.

  • Coordinate the annual review of the Exposure Control Plan and the Infection Control Plan

Joint Commission

  • Ensure center follows Joint Commission standards related to infection control practices.

  • Monitors changes in Joint Commission standards.

  • Educate nursing staff regarding current Joint Commission standards.

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children

Education: PA RN License, BSN Required

Experience: 2-3 years of previous nursing experience in a behavioral healthcare setting with proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight. Experience with Infection Control policy, procedures, audits and guidelines preferred.
