Being a School Based Consultant BCBA with Devereux’s Center for Effective Schools for the Kingston School District has its advantages

You will be in a 12 month position, supporting students in a school district within elementary and secondary classrooms and programs.

The Center for Effective Schools

The mission of the Center for Effective Schools (CES) is to build capacity in schools for serving children with, or at-risk for developing, emotional and behavioral disorders. This mission is accomplished through training, consultation, new model program development, and applied research. The CES subscribes to a multi-tiered (universal, secondary, and tertiary) prevention and intervention approach to service delivery. Populations served through CES include, but are not limited to, students and staff within primary and secondary public schools and districts; parents of school-aged children; pre-referral intervention teams; intermediate units; approved private day schools; and other non-profit organizations focused on education and violence prevention. Services include training and technical assistance for School-wide Positive Behavior Support, class-wide positive behavior support including Strengthening Emotional Support Services for emotional support classrooms, interventions for non-classroom settings including the Lunchroom Behavior Game, Response-to-Intervention, as well as individual student services including Functional Behavior Assessment, Curriculum Based Measurement, and general academic and behavioral assessment to generate empirically based behavior and academic support plans. CES staff members pride themselves on being consumer-driven by developing programs that are tailored to meet the needs of the individual, schools, and districts they serve.

Qualifications

Our Ideal Candidate :

  • Master’s degree from a behaviorally-based, accredited college/university in education, psychology or other related field; Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or credentialed or enrollment in a graduate program leading to a BCBA.

  • Experience in the direct delivery of behavior analytic services to students with emotional and behavioral disorders.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis;

  • Prior experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and developing Positive Behavior Support Plans.

  • Willingness to travel in school district settings.

  • Valid driver’s license must be maintained

  • Servant Leader with exceptional customer service skills and accountability.
