Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Recreation Therapy Manager is responsible for managing the activity therapy department for individuals served. Supervising a small team of Activity Therapists, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: overseeing and supervising special projects and special events on and off site, coordinating and directing the work of professional Activity Therapists in a varied program of activity therapy, overseeing the implementation of all individualized therapeutic activity programs that meet the physical, social, emotional, and creative needs of assigned clients. In addition, the Recreation Therapy Manager will assess an individual’s strengths, needs and interests and develop a plan to address these areas and document progress. You will work cross-functionally with other departments onsite, including Residential Services, Marketing, Clinical, Nursing, Education and Medical, in addition to external stakeholders for planning purposes. Additional duties will be assigned as needed.

EDUCATION: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy, or Art/Music Therapy from an accredited school AND certification as required by state regulations from the appropriate professional organization such the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation (NCTRC). Master's degree preferred. Certification in field is required in order to be considered.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years’ experience managing therapeutic activity services in a program for children or adolescents; Minimum of one(1) year management/supervision experience required. Mental/Behavioral healthcare experience preferred.
Strong technical skills and comfortable utilizing in-house computer applications for documenting and reporting purposes.
Must possess excellent leadership skills, therapeutic skills, written/verbal communication and organizational skills.
Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Drug Screen and Background Check results.
Must be able to complete a two-week, paid new hire orientation class; hours are approximately 8:30am to 5:30pm daily.
Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
