Devereux Ackerman Academy is a Cobb County Title 1 School serving students in grades K-12. Devereux is accredited by AdvancED (formally SACS). We provide a stimulating educational environment for children and youth while they are receiving the highest level mental health treatment. Our education personnel are highly qualified and certified by Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Many of our faculty and staff have multiple certifications to include Special Education and other content areas.Our classroom environment and instruction are designed to meet the needs of diverse learners.

* For your protection, everyone who works directly with the individuals will be fit-tested for the N95 mask. An N95 mask will be worn when working with children with infections. A medical evaluation will be completed, unless exempt under the standards.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in education

• Georgia Certified Teacher (Middle or High School Various content)

• Experience with Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support strategies preferred.

• Valid Driver's License and background checks required along with Drug Screen

Experience: Experience teaching Math; Grades 9-12. Experience with Positive Behavioral Intervention and support strategies preferred. Previous experience working with children/adolescents with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or conduct disorders preferred.

Other qualifications:

• Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Drug Screen and Background Check results.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
