The Administrative Assistant on our Education team will assist the Principal and the education administrative team as necessary, carrying out the functions of the Education Department and Devereux's Ackerman Academy. You will serve as the office administrator, manage and complete departmental tasks, such as reviewing, monitoring and preparing reports, monitor specific teacher deadlines, communicate with internal departments and external agencies, maintain calendar for the Principal, coordinate arrangements for all meetings, conference calls, and tours for the Education Department. You will also serve as an active member of the School Improvement Team. Additional Tasks assigned as necessary, such as standing in and assisting Teacher Assistants.
Devereux Ackerman Academy is a school serving students in grades 6-12. Ackerman Academy is accredited by Cognia (Formerly AdvancED). We provide a stimulating educational environment for children and youth while they are receiving the highest level mental health treatment. Our education personnel are highly qualified and certified by Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Many of our faculty and staff have multiple certifications to include Special Education and other content areas. Our classroom environment and instruction are designed to meet the needs of diverse learners.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred or 2 years of college, equivalent to 60 hours.
EXPERIENCE : A minimum of three (3) years experience working as an Administrative Assistant preferably in a school environment or as an Executive Assistant. Paraprofessional preferred. Experience working in a residential treatment facility or educational school setting highly desirable. Experience with children and adolescents is preferred.
Must possess excellent multitasking skills, problem-solving and interpersonal skills; written/verbal communication skills, planning and organizational skills are required.
Be empathetic, a team player, creative and energetic.
Have a strong passion for working with and helping children & adolescents & the ability to represent yourself as a positive role model.
Strong technical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required; comfortable utilizing in-house computer applications also required.
Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Drug Screen and Background Check results.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to complete a two-week, paid new hire orientation class; hours are approximately 8:30am to 5:30pm daily.
Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) COVID-19 vaccine mandate requires all employees to be fully vaccinated on or before March 15, 2022 .
