Being a Transportation Coordinator at Devereux has its Advantages

You will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. Some responsibilities include:

-Provides transportation services for clients to and from various locations to include medical and dental appointments, home visits, court dates, family visitations, etc.

-Demonstrates knowledge of and applies approved behavior management techniques designed to encourage appropriate social behavior. Serves as a positive role model by providing an example for acceptable behavior, language, and dress. Effectively utilizing level system and/or individualized treatment strategies for clients as developed by the treatment team.

-Provides direct supervision of assigned clients during on and off campus programming. Takes responsibility for the whereabouts, safety and general welfare of assigned clients at all times. Follows routine and increased supervision protocols. Utilizes and completes client accountability sheets.

-Utilizes appropriate and approved therapeutic interactions skills with clients in accordance with the New Directions Modules, specifically, Building Relationships, Listening, Praising Effectively, Making Requests, and Leading Activities. Quarterly training is completed by the due date.

-Utilizes crisis physical intervention techniques appropriate to the degree of threat to the safety of the client and others and in accordance with Devereux Safe and Positive Approaches (SPA) standards.

-Observes and reports, in a timely fashion to the appropriate supervisor and/or treatment team member, noticeable changes in client behaviors and/or health conditions. Provides accurate and timely documentation of client behaviors as well as documentations relative to use of Center vehicles.

-Assists in the movement and delivery of various materials to include client charts, mail, supplies, small medical equipment, etc. as needed.

-Observes all traffic rules to include maintaining a safe speed at all times, signaling, parking in appropriate areas, etc.

-Annual Training and certifications remain up to date and complete.

Education & Experience: Bachelors degree from an accredited college with at least twelve credits hours in a human services discipline to include but not limited to psychology, sociology, social work, education, pastoral counseling, political science, heath, recreation, criminal justice, counseling; and a minimum of one year experience or supervised practice in lieu of experience; OR a high school diploma plus twelve credit hours from an accredited college in a human services discipline (as described above), and two years direct care experience. Must possess a valid PA Driver's license and be eligible to operate organizational vehicles in accordance with the organizational risk management plans relative to authorized driving privileges.

The IDEAL candidate will be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to complete required new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.

Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.

Work Environment: Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
