Pay-rate: $19.27 - $21.97 (based upon experience)

Everyday as a Behavior Support Specialist you will:

  • Provide behavior management support to individuals in a school setting.

  • Carry out specific interventions that are developed by the Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

  • Transfer skills to individuals’ natural support in the least restrictive environment.

  • Assist the Educational Administrator by deploying direct care staff strategically throughout the facility.

  • Support teachers in managing student behaviors

  • Serve as an exemplar to direct care staff and ensures efficient communication between the school, residential program, and/or school district representatives.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, Children's Behavioral Health Services, provides programs and services for children and adolescents with emotional disturbances and mental health Diagnosis. Located in Glenmoore, PA, this position is responsible for providing behavior management support to assigned educational program, assisting the Educational Administrator by deploying direct care staff strategically throughout the facility, supporting teachers in managing student behaviors and ensuring efficient communication between the school and residential programs.

Qualifications

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children

EDUCATION: Registered Behavior Technician certification or RBT eligible; required.. Bachelor’s degree in a human service field preferred.

EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of work experience with children or adolescents with behavior challenges preferred. Requires strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and technology skills. Must be adaptable to changing workload, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and available to work a flexible work schedule. Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications (especially Excel), experience with data collection/analyzing platforms (Radar, Pro-Filer, and/or other internal and external software applications pertinent to the position). Must possess and maintain valid driver's license. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches (S&PA) techniques.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to administer CPR. Ability to administer first aid. Ability to properly restrain adolescent/adult clients. Ability to create and maintain a therapeutic milieu. Regularly requires walking, standing, stooping,bending, and pushing/pulling (1/2 to 3/4 of the workday). Seldom requires sitting. May require lifting up to 50 lbs. (1/4 - 1/2 of the workday). Requires repetitive wrist/hand movement (3/4 to 4/4 of the workday). Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate with co-workers and stakeholders in person and via telephone. Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical substances or controlled substances. Often drives a Devereux vehicle or van. Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated (1/2 to 3/4 of work time). Some fluctuation in temperature. Also, regularly works outside. May work in wet conditions (<1/4 of work time)
