Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health CARES provides programs and services for children and adolescents with autism and developmental disabilities. Located in Downingtown, PA, this position is responsible fordirecting the school program to ensure the provision of appropriate student services in a safe and healthy environment. Engages the school in a process of continual development to provide best-practice services to students with disabilities in compliance with all regulations from the PA Department of Education (PDE).
The Devereux Center for Autism Research and Education Services (CARES) is an educational program licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that provides services to students, ages five to 21, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. CARES provides an environment that focuses on teaching each student based on his or her unique strengths and needs. Programming is focused on increasing independence for each student, particularly in the areas of:
Recreation and leisure
Instruction is informed by research literature on evidence-based practices for students with autism and development disabilities. Instructional strategies include:
Individual and small group instruction
Skills taught in the context of naturally occurring routines
Instruction embedded within preferred activities
Individualized prompting procedures Visual mediation
Data-based decision making

What is Devereux doing to support and protect the health and safety of our staff during the COVID-19 pandemic?

All Devereux centers have formal infectious-disease and emergency-management plans tailored to specifically address the unique aspects of COVID-19 prevention. In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization, just a few of these precautions have included:
Establishing enhanced cleaning and disinfection across all campuses and sites
Implementing social distancing protocols across all programs
Using PPE, including masks, gloves and gowns as indicated by the CDC
Ensuring daily temperature and symptom screenings for all staff and clients
Throughout the pandemic, Devereux has also supported the physical and financial health of our dedicated team members - our very own Healthcare Heroes. A variety of options have been implemented over time to support our staff, including the provision of:
Ongoing dedication bonuses, as well as sign-on bonuses, for direct support professionals (DSP) and other staff members
Flexible schedules, remote working where possible, and redeployment between programs and services
Hazard pay for those supporting quarantined individuals and shelter away services to frontline staff, when needed, to mitigate spread to families
Advancing paid time off and sick time; eliminating telemedicine costs over a period of time

Education : Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Administration; Supervisor of Special Education (completed or in process); Pennsylvania Department of Education Principal Certification desired.
Experience : Five years’ experience in an educational setting with individuals with behavior disorders and/or intellectual and
developmental disabilities. Require atleast five years’ experience working with children/adolescents with autism and/or autism spectrum disorders. Experience supervising others in an educational setting. Strong organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to a flexible work schedule. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to lead large group meetings and interface with the public. Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, experience with data collection/analyzing platforms (Radar, Pro-Filer, and/or other internal and external software applications pertinent to the position). Strong organizational skills. Excellent oraland written communication skills. Requires ability to work independently, prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines. Valid driver's license must be maintained.
