Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health's Center for Autism Research and Educational Services (CARES) Program, located in Downingtown, PA is an approved private school that serves up to 60 children, ages 5 through 21, with a diagnosis of Autism, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder. We are currently seeking a Full Time School Custodian to perform basic housekeeping and maintenance support to the school building and facilities. The work schedule for this position is M-F 1-9pm.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Cleaning and light maintenance work such as simple repairs, moving furniture, hanging pictures, plumbing issues, etc.
Maintain equipment and tools in proper working condition and ensures proper storage.
Ensures economical and efficient use of materials.
Ensures that adequate supplies are available to complete work assignments and prepares monthly supply order.
Ensures that supplies and equipment are stored in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Develops and implements a routine schedule of assigned activities.
Maintains cleanliness of entire school to include classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, cafeteria, floors, etc.
Remains aware of safety and building regulations in performing repairs, replacements, etc.
Uses Personal Peasonal Protective Equipment to limit exposure to potentially hazardous substances and blood borne pathogens.

What is Devereux doing to support and protect the health and safety of our staff during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Implementing social distancing protocols across all programs
Using PPE, including masks, gloves and gowns as indicated by the CDC
Ensuring daily temperature and symptom screenings for all staff and clients
Throughout the pandemic, Devereux has also supported the physical and financial health of our dedicated team members - our very own Healthcare Heroes. A variety of options have been implemented over time to support our staff, including the provision of:
Ongoing dedication bonuses, as well as sign-on bonuses, for direct support professionals (DSP) and other staff members
Flexible schedules, remote working where possible, and redeployment between programs and services
Hazard pay for those supporting quarantined individuals and shelter away services to frontline staff, when needed, to mitigate spread to families
Advancing paid time off and sick time; eliminating telemedicine costs over a period of time

EDUCATION: Trade or High School Diploma /GED
EXPERIENCE: Training requires at least two years commercial housekeeping experience, preferably in a health care setting. Knowledge of general maintenance activities is essential. Must be twenty-one (21) year of age to drive Devereux vehicles and maintain a valid PA drivers license. Two years related experience
