JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing education and training designed to maintain and improve the knowledge and skill of all staff through orientation, in service and continuing education programs. These programs will be based on the client population served, the type and nature of the care provided and the department, individual staff needs, information from quality assessment and improvement activities, needs generated by advances made in healthcare management, behavioral science and technology, findings from performance appraisals, peer review activities, plant technology and safety management, and infection control activities. Principles of adult education serve as the basis of all training to promote staff competency through programs designed to meet established standards by licensing, regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Requirements

The accomplished individual will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

  • Two years previous experience conducting staff training with one year experience working with Intellectually/developmentally disabled population, preferably in a health care setting.

  • Strong passion for training new staff and helping improve overall job performance.

  • CPR/First Aid Instructors Certification required.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Excellent public speaking skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email, and the Internet.

  • Valid Texas license.
