DEVEREUX ADVANCED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic individuals to join our team working with children with developmental disabilities as full time teachers assistants at our school in Red Hook, NY!
As a Teacher Assistant you will:
-Assist teacher and residential staff in planning and implementing instructional and residential programs for individual student.
-Supervise student and is responsible for their welfare, safety, and location at all times.
-Attempt to resolve student crisis and/or contacts supervisor when assistance is needed.
-Assist in establishing a classroom environment conducive to academic and social learning by helping to maintain order.
-Guide student in socially appropriate behavior on and off campus.
-Assist in implementation of treatment team and lesson plans for student, as directed by teacher.
-When appropriate, will complete the following forms necessary to student program delivery: Behavior Observation Form; Seizure Reports; Student Nursing Reports; Student/Staff Incident Report; Medication Error Reports.
-Under teacher supervision evaluates student proficiency by informal testing, observation and behavior rating scales. May be required to be certified for van driving.
Reports needed repairs and safety hazards to supervisor, ensures maintenance and proper care of existing supplies and equipment.

To qualify, we require our Teacher Assistants to:
Bachelor degree or Associates degree with one (1) year of related experience preferred.
Have a valid NY Drivers License.
Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor.
Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.
Physical Requirements : Pre-employment physical required. Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending & standing required. Frequent planned, outside activities causing exposure to sunlight and heat. Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes. Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. Good manual dexterity.**
