Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking an energetic, positive full-time Learning Specialist with great communication skills to manage all aspects of training of employees that support individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Santa Barbara County!

This is a position for a confident individual with great presentation skills and with experience providing care to individuals that have moderate and severe disabilities including autism spectrum diagnosis. As Learning Specialist you will be responsible for the oversight of the training program which provides education and training to all employees within the organization in a dynamic environment.

The specifics:

  • As the Learning Specialist you will be responsible for the oversight of the training program which provides education and training to all employees within the organization.

  • Complete management and administrative duties related to learning management system, organizational compliance with licensing & training standards, entering, monitoring, analyzing and reporting data, and file maintenance.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of training materials, programs and ongoing employee development initiatives.

  • Provides on-the-job observation and coaching to Direct Care Professional staff and coordinates a team of certified trainers.

  • Will deliver instruction including but not limited to modules of New Directions, Devereux Safe & Positive Approaches, First Aid/CPR, and other.

  • Occasional weekend and evening hours required as needed per program.

  • This position is a part of the HR team. Will perform other Human Resources duties as assigned.

  • Be able to physically perform crisis interventions during Safe & Positive Approaches training.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health care field or other related field preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.**

EXPERIENCE:

One to three years of experience in a behavioral health care setting.

Previous experience as a trainer or presenter is preferred.

Certification in several knowledge areas is preferred.

(e.g. Safe and Positive Approaches, Suicide Prevention, New Directions, First Aid/CPR, etc.) Must have skill in MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel, general administrative and clerical skills and be willing to learn additional skills.**

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires continuous walking, standing, sitting, fine hand or finger movement, detailed sight and hearing.

Significant and frequent use of physical and sensory requirements associated with verbal and written communication. Requires use of office equipment requiring repetitive wrist/hand movement and vision.

Ability to routinely perform light lifting of 1-20 lbs. with occasional moderate lifting of 21-60 lbs.

Frequent bending or stooping and reaching above shoulder level.

Rare climbing of stairs and ladders.

Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical substances or controlled substances.**
