Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health California provides programs and services for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities including behavioral health issues in residential, day program, and community settings. This position is located in the Goleta/Santa Barbara area.

Responsibilities of Direct Care staff include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensures Individuals are safe, healthy, and living in a clean environment;

  • Assists and supports in the planning, implementation, and documentation of programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical, and personal needs of Individuals;

  • Assists, supports, and instructs Individuals in self-help skills designed to encourage independence;

  • Assists, supports, and instructs individuals on activities of daily living such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, paying bills, grocery shopping, bathing, toileting and personal hygiene.

  • Accompanies Individuals on community outings, medical appointments, and other activities, as indicated;

  • Assists with medication administration

  • May transfer, lift, move, and transport individuals using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention

  • Communicates effectively and tactfully with individuals served, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors

  • Must meet all training requirements for the position and must have the ability to perform all physical interventions/restraints.

  • Must be willing to work with individuals who may exhibit challenging and/or aggressive behaviors

Shifts available include:

  • 3-11pm Monday through Sunday

  • 7am-3pm and 3-11pm on Saturday and Sunday

  • 11pm-7am Monday through Sunday

  • Full and part-time positions depending on your availability

  • Must be available to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week

Requirements

To qualify, we require:

-A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED

-Valid California Driver's License and a good driving record are a must.

  • BA in Psychology preferred.

-Experience in the field is preferred.

The IDEAL candidate will:

Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to complete 40 hours of new hire orientation training, and have a strong passion for working with and helping adults with special needs.
