NEW AUTISM HOME is currently seeking caring, patient and creative people to work as
Direct Support Professionals II (DSP II) providing support to individuals living in a residential setting.
The DSP II is responsible for providing services to persons with mild, moderate and severe disabilities including autism spectrum diagnosis. A DSP II Must have the ability to work with individuals with challenging behaviors. These are part time positions. Available shifts TBD, but general shifts include Mon-Fri 3p-11p, weekend's 7a-3p and 3p-11p, as well as overnight awake shifts from 11p-7a.
Working a minimum of 1 weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) is required in order to be considered for this position.
As a DSP II you will be responsible for:
Assisting and teaching individuals to learn and perform necessary daily living skills (Including personal care)
Implements programs designed to meet the social, emotional and physical needs of the individuals.
Ensuring individual's safety
Following and implementing behavioral support plans and accurately track data.
Provide companionship, fellowship, and protection to individuals under your care.
Communicating with the individual being served by talking, listening, and providing encouragement and support to foster a positive relationship.

Devereux provides programs for adult individuals and families with developmental disabilities and/or emotional disturbances. The Devereux Santa Barbara programs serve individuals ages 18-85 with multiple diagnoses. Diagnoses typically include autistic spectrum disorders, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, mental disorders, dementia and other cognitive disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and medical conditions. The intent of our programs is to build quality of life for individuals and to promote the greatest degree of independence possible for each individual.
The focus is on reducing challenging behavior and establishing skills in order for the person to live in the least restrictive environment possible and to participate fully in their community.
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred in relevant field.
Must be able to perform all three levels of Devereux's Safe and Positive approaches Interventions
One (1) year of experience working in a related field

Additionally, you must be able to complete required training, have a strong passion for working with and helping adults with special needs and possess a valid license.**
Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.**
